Hooked on
Bowfishing
MANY people are beginning to use submersible lights for bow-fishing because
there is no light lost to surface reflection like there is using above water lights.
The waters surface is like a giant mirror and reflects half of all light shined on it.
The opposite effect is found when you use submersible lights.  When light is
placed under the waters surface, the majority of the light shines horizontally and
the rest shines up and down.  The light that shines upward, hits the surface
water and shines back down again, illuminating more of the surrounding water.
Since below surface light seems more normal to fish, they tend to spook less fish
than above surface lights.

Many bow-fisherman use both above surface lights and below surface lights in
combination.  The combination of the two lights will illuminate the water from top
to bottom.

Color of light can also make a difference depending on water clarity.
White light
can at times spook fish when it is shined on them from above.  Underwater

Green light
and Blue light tend to spook less fish since it is not as bright, and
appears more natural to the fish.  While green and blue light does not appear as
bright to the naked eye, it does penetrate dark waters better than white light and
reflection is minimal.

The 100-watt or 75-watt
AquaStar lights are the most popular lights used for
bowfishing.  Two lights hung on the same side of the boat, about two feet under
the waters surface will illuminate a 25' to 30' radius.  Many bow-fisherman use
the submersible lights in conjunction with their above water lighting which gives
them maximum illumination.  If you use a generator, you won't find any brighter
submersible lights than our Magnum
120VAC models that put out 1.5 Million C.P.

Our submersible halogen lights are the most popular lights used for bowfishing
because of their small size and great light output.  The lights are small and
compact and can be easily stored.  All of our lights operate from 12 VDC and
have replaceable halogen bulbs, replaceable globes and Polycarbonate Tube
Guards that protect the light from breaking.

We recommend a separate 12VDC Group 27 Deep Cycle battery to run the
lights, which can be purchased for around $64 at your local Wal-Mart store.  For
